OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC today announced that it will temporarily suspend soccer operations and will not compete in the 2022 USL Championship season. The decision comes after Energy FC’s home field at Taft Stadium, which is owned and operated by the Oklahoma City Public Schools, will undergo major renovations that directly overlap with the 2022 USL Championship season.

Energy FC will continue business operations during their on-field hiatus. Upon completion of the renovations, the team will resume play for the 2023 USL Championship season in its temporary home at Taft Stadium. The club has established a path to a new stadium in the coming years as part of a public partnership.

Founded in 2013, Energy FC has compiled an overall record of 86-94-76 and reached the Western Conference Finals of the USL Championship Playoffs in 2015 and 2017.
