El Paso Locomotive FC's Diego Luna and Sebastian Velasquez will both return to the club for the 2022 USL Championship season.

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC announced on Tuesday midfielders Diego Luna and Sebastian Velasquez will return to the club for the 2022 USL Championship season, with the attacking duo previously under contract for the new campaign.

Luna had a remarkable first professional season in 2021 as he signed his first professional contract with El Paso after previously competing for the Barça Residency Academy in Arizona. The 18-year-old immediately made waves as he recorded nine goals and five assists to earn Championship All-League Second Team honors and nomination for the Championship’s Young Player of the Year award.

Luna’s creativity and confidence on the ball drew attention nationwide, and recently he capped his remarkable debut season by being selected to compete for the U.S. Men’s Under-20 National Team at the inaugural Revelations Cup in Mexico, where he scored against the host nation in the final round of games while logging just under 120 minutes of play overall.

Velasquez returned to El Paso this past season having previously been a member of the club’s inaugural team. A USL Championship All-League selection in 2017 with Real Monarchs SLC, rejoined Locomotive FC this past June to bolster the attacking midfield with his creative play on the ball. The Colombian midfielder scored two goals and had four assists for El Paso in 2021, adding to his three goals and one assist from 2019.
