In the opening edition of Black Arrow FC Presents – part of the USL’s collaboration with Oakland-based Black Arrow FC focused on original, compelling stories at the intersection of soccer and black culture – host Elischa Edouard visits Louisville, Kentucky to learn more about the burgeoning culture emerging across the city and at the USL Championship’s Louisville City FC.
Edouard first meets with legendary Championship player George Davis IV, one of only a handful of players to have appeared in every season of the league’s existence and its current all-time regular season appearances leader, to talk about his upbringing and path into soccer, finding his way in the professional game a decade ago, and the local initiatives that are now happening in the city to make the game more accessible.
Then, it’s time for gameday at Lynn Family Stadium as Edouard checks out the scene and atmosphere at Louisville City FC’s soccer-specific stadium in the Butchertown neighborhood at a clash with FC Tulsa, including spending time with the Louisville Coopers’ drumline in the venue’s safe-standing section.
