Championship Player of the Month Nominees – October

Over the final month of the campaign, five players took center stage, which gets your vote?

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award Presented by Cleer Audio for October, bringing together five of the top performers throughout the past month as the field for the 2021 USL Championship Playoffs was completed to take their place on the ballot.

Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, November 8 at 12 p.m. ET.
  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.
  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, November 11.

Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL Championship Player of the Month – October 2021

Samuel Adeniran, Tacoma Defiance – The 24-year-old Texan recorded a league-best six goals in eight appearances across the month at a scoring rate of a goal every 115.3 minutes. Adeniran also recorded 31 shots and seven key passes to finish with a league-high +2.94 Goals Added mark for the month.

Sebastian Guenzatti, Tampa Bay Rowdies – The reigning Player of the Month followed his standout September with another tremendous run this past month with five goals and two assists as he passed 20 goals for the first time in his career. Guenzatti ranked second across the league with a 2.64 Goals Added mark for the month.

Josue Aaron Gomez, El Paso Locomotive FC – The Mexican forward recorded four goals and three assists at a rate of a goal every 122.8 minutes and a Goals+Assists per 90 minutes rate of 1.28G+A as Locomotive FC completed an undefeated home regular season slate and won the Mountain Division.

Kyle Murphy, Memphis 901 FC – The New York native closed out a career season in impressive fashion, recording five goals at a rate of a tally every 94.8 minutes and a +2.22 Goals Added rate as Memphis powered its way to a third-place finish in the Central Division and the club’s first postseason berth.

Patrick Rakovsky, Orange County SC – The German shot-stopper closed the season with four shutouts in six appearances while recording 17 saves and conceding only two goals. Rakovsky’s 89.4 save percentage ranked as the best in the league for the month among goalkeepers with more than one start.
