HERRIMAN, Utah – Real Monarchs SLC play host to Rio Grande Valley FC on Wednesday night at Zions Bank Stadium with the Toros aiming to build on a key weekend victory that put the side in range of moving into the playoff places in the USL Championship’s Mountain Division against a Monarchs side that is undefeated in its last three outings as it nears the end of its campaign. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.

@RealMonarchs (5-18-7, 22pts) played to a 1-1 draw against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Friday night at Zions Bank Stadium as a valiant performance came up just short as the visitors equalized deep in second-half stoppage time. Goalkeeper Jeff Dewsnup recorded nine saves – including a penalty kick denial of Championship Golden Boot leader Hadji Barry in the first half – while Kyle Adams found the net early in the second half as the hosts battled despite playing down a man for more than 75 minutes after Julio Benitez was sent off in the 13 minutes. Benitez will serve a one-game suspension on Wednesday as a result as the Monarchs try to make it four games undefeated in their home finale this regular season.

@RGVFC (11-11-8, 41pts) jumped up into the playoff race once again on Saturday night after a 2-0 win against New Mexico United that saw Christian Sorto notch two assists on goals by Rodrigo Lopez and Kyle Edwards. The Toros moved within two points of New Mexico for the fourth and final playoff place in the Mountain Division with a game in hand, and with a win against the Monarchs they would move into fourth place going to the final game of the regular season. RGVFC is winless in its last seven road games, going 0-4-3 in that span, with its last road victory coming against the Monarchs on August 4. A repeat of that performance would send RGVFC home for its regular season finale against El Paso Locomotive FC still in control of its path to the playoffs, but a draw would hand it back to United.
