INDIANAPOLIS – Indy Eleven and Louisville City FC will meet for the final edition of the Louisville Indianapolis Proximity Association Football Contest on Saturday night at Michael A. Carroll Stadium with the direction of this year’s series yet to be decided with both the Boys in Blue and LouCity in need of victories in the bigger picture as well. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

@IndyEleven (8-14-7, 31pts) needs a win to keep its postseason hopes alive after it suffered a 3-1 defeat last Sunday evening against Central Division leader Birmingham Legion FC to remain in seventh place in the standings. The Boys in Blue have played LouCity level so far this season in their three meetings, taking a 1-1-1 record into Saturday’s contest which offers a chance for the side to claim the season series for the first time since Indy joined the Championship in 2018. The hosts got a solid performance from newcomer Emmanuel Ledesma against Legion FC, and while the playoffs may not be in Indy’s future this season – the side would also be eliminated from contention should FC Tulsa win on the road on Saturday night – building a platform for next season as well as knocking off their biggest rival should be motivation enough for a strong performance on Saturday night.

@LouCityFC (16-6-7, 55pts) has already clinched a playoff spot and a top-two finish in the Central Division but dropped into second place in the standings on Wednesday night after it fell 2-1 on the road against Memphis 901 FC. An early goal by Paolo DelPiccolo put the visitors ahead at AutoZone Park on a cleverly worked corner kick, but 901 FC rallied to boost its playoff chances and leave the door open for Birmingham Legion FC to jump past Louisville as it took a 3-1 win against Austin Bold FC on the same night. DelPiccolo’s goal was the midfielder’s third consecutive game finding the net and continued a career season for the club captain with his ninth tally of the season. DelPiccolo has scored three goals against Indy in 13 appearances for LouCity, one off the four goals tallied by Cameron Lancaster and Corben Bone in the rivalry for the side, and the visitors will be hoping for a repeat of a 2-0 win when the teams last met on September 18 at the same venue to continue its hold on the series.
