KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Sporting Kansas City II hosts Atlanta United 2 on Wednesday night at Children’s Mercy Park with the visitors looking to take victory and keep their mathematical playoff chances alive against a Sporting side that almost sprung a major upset in its outing last weekend. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

@SportingKCII (4-17-8, 20pts) almost produced a stunning result on Saturday night but was denied in second-half stoppage time as Louisville City FC rallied for a 4-3 victory at Lynn Family Stadium. Sporting had rallied to take the lead in the final 10 minutes as Jake Davis’ second goal of the game and a brilliant strike by Jamil Roberts put the side with five minutes to go, but LouCity responded through goals from Oscar Jimenez and Cameron Lancaster to grab victory. Davis’ two-goal performance saw him named to the Championship’s Team of the Week on Tuesday and continued a solid campaign for the 19-year-old Michigan native, who notched his first two goals of the season against Louisville to go with six assists. Davis will be unavailable for Wednesday game as he serves a suspension for caution accumulation. SKC II has been led in scoring overall by Enoch Mushagalusa with eight tallies and three assists, while Roberts’ second professional goal also marked him as one to watch back on home turf on Wednesday.

@atlutd2 (7-12-10, 31pts) returns to action on Wednesday night after last playing to a 1-1 draw with Indy Eleven on October 2 at Michael A. Carroll Stadium. The visitors had gone behind but managed to grab a point as Aiden McFadden capitalized on a rebound deep in second half stoppage time to earn the side a point. The goal was McFadden’s eighth of the season, putting him just outside the Top 25 in the Championship in goalscorers this campaign. Atlanta will be hoping for a win to extend its season once again as it tries to run down either Memphis 901 FC or FC Tulsa in fourth and third place respectively. Should SKC II take victory, or the game end in a draw, Atlanta’s chances at the postseason will officially draw to a close.
