Championship Player of the Month Nominees – September

As the playoff race began to build, five players stood above the rest, which gets your vote?

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award Presented by Cleer Audio for September, bringing together five of the top performers throughout the past month as the race for the 2021 USL Championship Playoffs began to build earning a place on the ballot.

Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, October 11 at 12 p.m. ET.
  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.
  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, October 14.

Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL Championship Player of the Month – September 2021

Sebastian Guenzatti, Tampa Bay Rowdies – The Rowdies’ captain scored a league-high seven goals in September and notched two assists and six key passes, averaging a goal every 49.9 minutes. That earned him a league-best Goals Added rating of +2.60 in September as he ended the month with three consecutive two-goal performances.

Santi Moar, Phoenix Rising FC – The Spanish standout recorded five goals in six games, including notching a pair of game-winning goals. Moar also finished the month with 12 key passes while completing 10 of 15 dribbles and a +1.93 Goals Added rating as Phoenix became the first team to book its place in the postseason.

Christiano Francois, Miami FC – The Haiti international recorded five goals in five games for Miami, averaging a goal every 84.6 minutes on 14 shots and seven shots on target. Francois ended the month with a +2.84xG mark, the highest in the league.

Cameron Lancaster, Louisville City FC – The English standout recorded four goals in four appearances, averaging a goal every 77 minutes, while recording 15 shots and eight shots on target. Lancaster’s performances saw him move into the top five in the Championship’s all-time scoring list.

Aodhan Quinn, Phoenix Rising FC – The attacking playmaker led the league with four assists and 24 key passes during the month while also recording a pair of goals on 14 shots and seven shots on target. Quinn also completed 175 of 234 passes overall.
