Memphis 901 FC’s Laurent Kissiedou voted Player of the Week after pair of goals in victory at Tulsa

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced the Team of the Week Presented by Cleer Audio for Week 24 of the 2021 regular season on Tuesday, with Memphis 901 FC midfielder Laurent Kissiedou being voted Player of the Week after recording two goals to help lead 901 FC to a 3-0 win on the road against FC Tulsa that ran the club’s undefeated streak to four games as it pursues its first postseason berth.

One of Memphis’ offseason arrivals having previously played in the Championship for Atlanta United 2, Kissiedou has been a positive presence in the center of midfield for the side this season. Against Tulsa at ONEOK Field on Saturday night he produced two excellent finishes, the first an opportunistic finish from 35 yards that caught out the goalkeeper as it looped high on a first-time strike and went just underneath the crossbar. Kissiedou then staked 901 FC to a three-goal halftime lead in first-half stoppage time with a powerful shot from 25 yards that picked out the bottom-left corner of the net to pave the way to victory for the visitors.

Kissiedou earned 46 percent of the ballot to claim the award, narrowly edging out the Charlotte Independence’s Enzo Martinez on 38 percent. Martinez recorded one goal and two assists across two victories for the Independence during the week, including a goal and assist last Thursday night in a 2-1 win against Hartford Athletic at Dillon Stadium.
