ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United will try to rebound as it plays host to Real Monarchs SLC on Saturday night at Isotopes Park as the hosts look for a victory to boost their postseason chances in the USL Championship’s Mountain Division against a Monarchs side coming off another defeat in midweek. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET.

@NewMexicoUTD (7-8-7, 28pts) fell 1-0 against Austin Bold FC last Friday night as it conceded a late penalty kick that was converted by the hosts at Bold Stadium. The result moved Austin into fourth place in the Mountain Division standings with New Mexico now four points back with 10 games to go in the campaign. Six of those 10 games will be at home for New Mexico, however, with Saturday’s coming against a Monarchs side that United has defeated six times in their prior eight meetings. The last outing was one of the two defeats, however, as goals by Daniel Bruce and Andrew Tinari staked New Mexico to an early two-goal lead before Real rallied to take a 3-2 win at Zions Bank Stadium. That result evened the series between the clubs this season and could provide motivation for United as it looks to push back into contention for a third consecutive postseason berth.

@RealMonarchs (4-15-4, 16pts) has seen more downs than ups since that performance, however, and on Wednesday night suffered a fifth consecutive defeat in a 2-0 loss against Hartford Athletic in an interconference clash at Dillon Stadium. Real is now 12 points adrift at the bottom of the Mountain Division and 16 points out of the playoff places, making a return to the postseason unlikely this season, but with a young group of talent the side led by Head Coach Jamison Olave could still have a role to play in the remainder of the campaign as it looks to play spoiler down the stretch. After suffering a 5-1 defeat on its lone prior visit to Isotopes Park, the visitors will be hoping for a stronger performance this time around to end its downturn in form as first-year pro Charlie Wehan gets a chance to go head-to-head with older brother Chris in New Mexico’s lineup.
