From veterans to youngsters, here are the Hispanic players that have caught our eye this season

From Cuba’s Yordany Alvarez, the USL Championship’s first Most Valuable Player in 2011 for Orlando City SC, to some of the most notable players and single-season performers in the Championship’s history over the past decade, talent from Hispanic countries and with Hispanic heritage have been at the forefront consistently over the years.

Alvarez was joined in being named MVP by Colombia’s Jose Angulo (Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, 2013) and Argentine Emmanuel Ledesma (FC Cincinnati, 2018) while others like recent Young Player of the Year award winners Efrain Alvarez (LA Galaxy II, 2018) and Cristian Parano (San Antonio FC, 2019) or Goalkeeper of the Year honoree Miguel Gallardo (Orlando City SC, 2011) and Diego Restrepo (San Antonio FC, 2017) have shone the spotlight on the Hispanic talent across the league.

Here’s a look at 20 players that have shone in the Championship this season, including veterans, national team players and young talent, some of which could be up for awards or Championship All-League selection at the end of the regular season.
