Scrambling fingertip save to deny Phoenix ‘s Aodhan Quinn topped poll conducted over past weekend

TAMPA, Fla. – Orange County SC’s Patrick Rakovsky has earned the USL Championship’s Fans’ Choice Save of the Month award for August as his outstanding stop against Phoenix Rising FC at Wild Horse Pass last month finished first in the poll conducted over the past weekend.

An offseason arrival in Orange County, the German goalkeeper produced a sparkling piece of play in his side’s visit to the defending Western Conference Title holders. Coming off his line initially to try and narrow the shooting angle of Phoenix’s Aodhan Quinn, Rakovsky had to scramble back as the midfielder tried an audacious chip from 15 yards but he managed to swipe the ball over the crossbar with his left hand to deny the finish.

Rakovsky’s save earned 34 percent of the poll conducted at USLChampionship.com, finishing ahead of Rio Grande Valley FC’s Colin Miller, who took 23 percent for his reflex save to deny Sam Brown during the Toros’ victory against Real Monarchs SLC. Louisville City FC’s Parker Siegfried finished third on 22 percent for his point-blank denial of Birmingham Legion FC’s Neco Brett at BBVA Field.
