Standout finish against Memphis earns monthly honor for Canadian U-23 international

TAMPA, Fla. – OKC Energy FC’s Aidan Daniels has earned the USL Championship’s Fans’ Choice Goal of the Month award for August as his outstanding finish against Memphis 901 FC at Taft Stadium last month finished top of the poll conducted over the past weekend.

Daniels is the second consecutive Energy FC player to claim the award after teammate Hiroki Kurimoto in July, with the two players having both arrived via transfer from Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Daniels’ two goals against 901 FC were his first since that move, which helped earn a 4-1 victory that has been part of Energy FC’s recent improvement in form, moving the side into the playoff positions in the Championship’s Central Division.

Daniels’ goal earned 38 percent of the poll conducted at USLChampionship.com to claim the award. El Paso Locomotive FC’s Luis Solignac finished second on 25 percent for his heel-flick finish against Rio Grande Valley FC, while Phoenix Rising FC’s Darnell King took third with 17 percent for his outstanding volley against Oakland Roots SC.
