PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC announced on Thursday the departure forward Rufat Dadashov via transfer to German club FC Schalke 04 II. Dadashov had recorded 15 goals since joining the club prior to the 2020 USL Championship season, while also notching six assists.
“I’m very pleased for Rufat,” said Rising head coach Rick Schantz. “He has been fantastic in his time here at Phoenix Rising. I am sure he will be successful in Germany. I look forward to following his career. We all wish him the very best at FC Schalke II.”
Named to the 2020 Championship All-League Second Team, Dadashov finished the campaign with 11 goals and four assists in 18 appearances for the Western Conference Title-winnnners. The Azerbaijani forward ranked third on the team in chances created with 31, behind only Solomon Asante (51) and Jon Bakero (36). Dadashov added four goals and two assists in 14 appearances for Rising this season.
Prior to joining Phoenix, Dadashov made 52 appearances for German third-division side Preußen Münster in 2018-19, where he scored 14 goals with two assists.
Dadashov has been capped 24 times for the Azerbaijan National Team. He has five goals in his international career.
