Orange County Acquires Sean Okoli from Austin Bold FC

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Thursday it had acquired Sean “Ugo” Okoli via transfer from fellow USL Championship club Austin Bold FC, bringing the veteran forward back to the club he spent the 2020 season with.

Okoli recorded seven goals and two assists in 15 appearances for Orange County last season, leading the team in goals as well as shots (37) and shots on target (17) while also finishing tied for the team high in assists and recording 17 key passes overall.

The 2016 USL Championship Most Valuable Player when he claimed the league’s Golden Boot with 16 goals at FC Cincinnati, Okoli has made 63 regular-season appearances in the Championship as well as competing for Seattle Sounders FC, the New England Revolution and New York City FC in Major League Soccer. The 28-year-old has also competed overseas in Sweden and Austria during his professional career.

This season, Okoli has recorded three goals in 13 appearances for Bold FC, but now joins an attack that also includes current Haiti international Ronaldo Damus (8 goals) and Finnish forward Eero Markannen (4 goals) and a strong creative midfield including Chris Wehan, Brian Iloski and Mikko Kuningas.
