USL Championship Fans’ Choice Goal of the Month – July

The past month brought almost 250 goals in the league, which of the top six gets your vote?

The USL Championship produced almost 250 goals across a busy month of action in July as the regular season neared its midway point with some thrilling games and finishes. Now the past month’s five Goal of the Week winners have all advanced to July’s Fans’ Choice Goal of the Month contest, and our friends at FotMob have picked out their favorite finish from the month to round out the top six for you to vote on for the award.

Voting will continue through 12 p.m. ET on Monday, August 9.

Brian Ownby (LOU) - #SKCvLOU, 7/2/21: LouCity’s veteran cut the ball back onto his left foot with a beautiful first touch before delivering a curled finish from 20 yards into the top-left corner of the net that put the visitors ahead for good at Children’s Mercy Park.

Micheal Azira (NM) - #NMvCOS, 7/9/21: Micheal Azira connected perfectly with Isidro Martinez’s corner kick from the right in second-half stoppage time to lift New Mexico to victory against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on his first goal in the club’s colors.

Jimmy McLaughlin (LOU) - #LOUvATL, 7/17/21: Jimmy McLaughlin’s first league goal in LouCity’s colors was one to remember as his bar-down blast from the top of the penalty area sealed all three points for the hosts in front of more than 11,000 fans at Lynn Family Stadium.

Nabi Kibunguchy (SAC) - #OCvSAC, 7/24/21: The former Republic FC Academy standout’s first professional goal gave Sacramento a late equalizer against Orange County SC on Saturday night with a diving header from close range in second-half stoppage time.

Luis Felipe Fernandes (SAC) - #SACvNY, 7/31/21: Luis Felipe Fernandes created a brilliant piece of interplay with Duke Lacroix, popping the ball up with his chest at the edge of the penalty area before Lacroix headed back into his path for a finish to the left corner.

Hiroki Kurimoto (OKC) - #TULvOKC, 7/17/21: The Japanese midfielder produced a perfectly-timed run and volley to grab victory in the Black Gold Derby for Energy FC in the sixth minute of stoppage time at ONEOK Field, evening the regular-season series between itself and FC Tulsa.
