Championship Player of the Month Nominees – July

Five players shone in the league’s action over the past month, which gets your vote?

TAMPA, Fla. – The USL Championship announced on Thursday the five nominees for the USL Championship Player of the Month award for July, with top performers from third full month of the 2021 regular season selected for the ballot.

Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

  • A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, August 9 at 12 p.m. ET.
  • The USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.
  • The USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll.

The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, August 12.

Please note: The USL Championship Player of the Month selection process in no way is tied directly to the voting and selection process of End of the Year awards such as USL Championship Most Valuable Player or position players of the year.

USL Championship Player of the Month – July 2021

Nathan Fogaca, San Antonio FC – Nathan Fogaca led the Championship with five goals in July and also notched one assist, averaging 79 minutes per goal and led the league in Goals Added with 1.56 G+ via American Soccer Analysis.

Kyle Murphy, Memphis 901 FC – Kyle Murphy helped Memphis record an undefeated month with four goals in four games, including two game-winners, while averaging a goal every 68 minutes for 901 FC as he recorded 10 shots overall in the month.

Jeff Caldwell, Hartford Athletic – Jeff Caldwell recorded a league-high 32 saves across six games – an average of 5.3 per game – while recording three shutouts and posting a 79.5 save percentage and posting a -6.27 Goals - Expected Goals mark over the month via American Soccer Analysis.

Claudio Repetto, Charleston Battery – Claudio Repetto made an immediate impact on his arrival for the Battery, scoring four goals and recording five key passes while averaging a goal every 91.8 minutes to fuel Charleston’s surge up the standings.

Cal Jennings, Las Vegas Lights FC – Cal Jennings recorded three goals and two assists in four appearances, averaging a goal every 117.7 minutes, and ranked second in the Championship in Goals Added with a 1.44 G+ rating over the month.
