USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week – Week 15

A pair of penalty kick stops and some outstanding close-range denials make the cut, which one gets your vote?

A busy week of action produced more than 100 saves overall, including a couple of penalty-kick saves of note as the league’s goalkeepers shone throughout Week 15’s action. We’ve picked out five of the best, now you get to choose which one will be the Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week.

Voting runs through Friday, August 6 at 12 p.m. ET.

USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week – Week 15

Abraham Romero (OC) - #LVvOC, 7/27/21: Young Orange County goalkeeper Abraham Romero got a good read on the penalty kick by Las Vegas Lights FC’s Danny Musovski and made a diving save to his left while punching the ball clear.

Rocco Rios Novo (ATL) - #ATLvTUL, 7/28/21: The Argentine U-20 international produced a fine low stop to his left to keep out a penalty kick by FC Tulsa’s Rodrigo da Costa, offering no rebound as he palmed the ball wide of the post.

Jeff Caldwell (HFD) - #PITvHFD, 7/31/21: Jeff Caldwell continued his outstanding season with this double-save against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, first denying Mekeil Williams’ header before recovering to turn away Albert Dikwa on the rebound.

Matt Cardone (SA) - #SAvELP, 7/28/21: Local standout Matt Cardone produced an outstanding save to keep out a header by El Paso Locomotive FC’s Eder Borelli, getting enough behind the ball to turn it beyond Sebastian Velasquez as he anticipated the rebound.

Tyler Deric (RGV) - #PHXvRGV, 7/31/21: Tyler Deric stood up strongly at his near post to turn away a powerful strike from Phoenix Rising FC’s Solomon Asante at Wild Horse Pass on Saturday night, one of five saves he made in the contest.
