El Paso plays host to Las Vegas as it looks to maintain home undefeated streak

El Paso Locomotive FC and attacking midfielder Sebastian Velasquez will look to continue their undefeated home record this season as it hosts Las Vegas Lights FC and Mamdadou Fall on Saturday night.

EL PASO, Texas – El Paso Locomotive FC will look to maintain its undefeated home record this season as it plays host to Las Vegas Lights FC at Southwest University Park on Saturday night with the visitors coming off a narrow midweek defeat. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET.

@EPLocomotiveFC (6-1-3, 21pts) returns to action on Saturday after having claimed a 3-1 victory against Real Monarchs SLC last Friday night at Zions Bank Stadium. The visitors got a pair of late goals by Diego Luna and Josue Aaron Gomez earned the side all three points and moved it into first place in the Mountain Division. The 17-year-old Luna is now tied for the team-lead with three goals this season and has also notched a pair of assists in an impressive opening to his professional career. The win against the Monarchs saw El Paso produce its first three-goal performance of the season, with the side’s attack having scored 15 goals in 10 games so far this season. Five of those contests have been at home, where the side is now undefeated in its last 11 regular-season games and is one of only four teams in the Championship yet to have suffered a home defeat this season.

@LVLightsFC (4-7-1, 13pts) will take on that challenge on Saturday after a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday night at Cashman Field to Sacramento Republic FC that saw the hosts unable to find a late equalizer. Julian Gaines found the net for his first goal in the club’s colors as Lights FC had its two-game winning streak snapped by its Pacific Division rival. Las Vegas has picked up a pair of wins on the road so far this season with LAFC loanees Danny Musovski and Cal Jennings both sitting on three goals for the year, and Lights FC has a positive history in El Paso having claimed victory in its lone prior visit in 2019 when current Hartford Athletic forward Preston Tabort Etaka scored the only goal in a 1-0 win for the side in the first meeting between the clubs.
