ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United plays host to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Friday night at Isotopes Park looking to snap a three-game losing streak as it returns home for the third meeting between these sides this season. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET.

@NewMexicoUTD (4-5-2, 14pts) returns home after losing all three games on its road trip over the past two weeks despite having held leads in all three contests. That has seen the side slip out of the top four in the Mountain Division, overtaken by Austin Bold FC, while leaving United seven points back of division-leaders Rio Grande Valley FC. The defensive struggles the side has faced in the past three games – which have seen it concede eight times – came directly after a run of three consecutive shutouts and New Mexico will be hoping to get back to that level of defensive solidity as it begins a run of two games in four nights at home that also includes a meeting with the Charleston Battery next Monday night. United will be without Amando Moreno for those contests and potentially more following his selection by El Salvador for the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup, which sees La Selecta kick off on Saturday evening against Curacao.

@SwitchbacksFC (5-3-2, 17pts) has been moving in the opposite direction to United in recent weeks after winning four of its past five games including a 3-1 win against Real Monarchs SLC this past Sunday night. Hadji Barry was among the scorers for the side at a sold-out Weidner Field on the Fourth of July that saw the Guinean forward move to 11 goals in 10 games so far this season to lead the race for the Championship’s Golden Boot. This week the Switchbacks announced it had agreed a two-year contract extension with Barry that will keep him at the club until at least the conclusion of the 2023 season, and he’ll be looking to add to his tally against New Mexico after having led the side’s 3-1 win on June 25 at Weidner Field when the sides last met.
