Two teams currently moving in different directions square off on ESPN2 at Torero Stadium

San Diego Loyal SC's Alejandro Guido and Sacramento Republic FC's Petteri Pennanen are set to lead their respective sides into action on national television on Saturday evening at Torero Stadium.

SAN DIEGO – San Diego Loyal SC will look to add to its four-game winning streak on national television on Saturday evening as it plays host to Sacramento Republic FC on ESPN2 at Torero Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

@SanDiegoLoyal (5-4-2, 17pts) earned a 1-0 victory on Tuesday night against Oakland Roots SC as Miguel Ibarra scored his first goal in SD Loyal colors to extend the side’s winning run and move it to seven games undefeated overall. San Diego is still perfect at Torero Stadium this season with four of its five victories having come on home turf, while the win against Oakland saw the side record its first shutout of the season with Austin Guerrero getting his first start in lieu of Trey Muse. Each of San Diego’s wins over its current streak has been by a lone goal, with the side yet to record more than two goals in a game this season. The game ended scoreless when San Diego and Sacramento last squared off during the 2020 season, though, with that game serving as the only prior meeting between the clubs.

While San Diego has been upwardly mobile, @SacRepublicFC (2-5-1, 7pts) is hoping to finally end a six-game winless streak that has equaled the longest of the club’s history. Sacramento suffered a 2-1 defeat to Phoenix Rising FC at home last Saturday night to fall to the fifth defeat in those six games but showed a positive response after going down to 10 men late in the first half when Fatai Alashe was sent off. Dan Casey scored his first goal for the side as it attempted a comeback that came up short, but the energy Republic FC showed could be crucial to getting the right result to right the ship for Head Coach Mark Briggs’ squad.
