OAKLAND, Calif. – Oakland Roots SC announced on Monday the club had signed forward Brandon Allen. Allen most recently featured for Memphis 901 FC where he made 34 appearances and recorded 12 goals.

The New Jersey native got his start in the professional game for his hometown side when he signed a homegrown contract with New York Red Bulls. Allen would make one appearance for the MLS side and 42 for the New York Red Bulls II, where he recorded 24 goals and helped lead the side to victory with a hat trick in the 2016 USL Championship Final.

“We are excited to add another USL veteran attacker to the mix,” said Roots SC VP of Soccer Eric Yamamoto. “Brandon has a lot of experience scoring goals in this league and we look forward to having him in Oakland with us.”

Allen has made 113 regular-season appearances in the Championship and has recorded 47 goals and 10 assists. Prior to competing for 901 FC, Allen also competed for the Philadelphia Union II, Nashville SC, and the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The 27-year-old also spent time on loan in Major League Soccer with Minnesota United FC during the 2017 season.
