OAKLAND, Calif. – Oakland Roots SC announced on Tuesday it would play host to Austin Bold FC this Saturday night at Las Positas College in Livermore, Calif. at 10:30 p.m. ET while the new playing surface is installed at Laney College for the remainder of its 2021 USL Championship home schedule.
The club’s new state-of-the art playing surface – which is part of its ongoing investment in Laney Stadium – suffered significant shipping delays caused by COVID-19 and weather, resulting in its late arrival prior to this past weekend’s scheduled game against Sacramento Republic FC. It has now arrived in the United States and the club is in the process of preparing it for installation.
Las Positas College has served as Roots’ training facility throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and has been used by multiple National Teams as a training facility in the past. While the contest will be played behind closed doors, the facilities meet standards that will see the game air locally on KOFY and nationally on ESPN+.
Roots SC will return to Laney Stadium for its nationally televised contest against Las Vegas Lights FC on Saturday, July 10 at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
