Defiance return home looking to snap losing streak as Monarchs visit Cheney Stadium

Tacoma Defiance's Issa Rayyan and Real Monarchs SLC's Kyle Adams could both feature as their sides meet in an interdivisional contest on Wednesday night at Cheney Stadium.

TACOMA, Wash. – Tacoma Defiance will try to snap a three-game losing streak on Wednesday night as they return home to Cheney Stadium to host Real Monarchs SLC, which is also looking to get back in the win column. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET.

@TacDefiance (2-3-1, 7pts) suffered its third consecutive defeat on the road last Wednesday night as it fell 4-2 against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Weidner Field in a high-tempo game that saw Marlon Vargas give the Defiance the lead early and Alec Diaz also find the net only for the firepower from the hosts to prove too much. The Defiance have claimed victory in both of their prior home games this season, however, defeating San Diego Loyal SC and Orange County SC in impressive displays at Cheney Stadium. Its travels have seen the side slip to sixth place in the Pacific Division standings, but Tacoma holds three games in hand on both the LA Galaxy II and San Diego with a four-point gap to make up, a deficit it could cut into on Wednesday night.

@RealMonarchs (1-5-2, 5pts) heads to the Pacific Northwest after being edged out 2-1 by El Paso Locomotive FC last Friday night at Zions Bank Stadium. Milan Iloski scored a late finish with an outstanding free kick for his third goal of the season, but the hosts weren’t able to find a late equalizer against the last remaining undefeated side in the league this season. The Monarchs could feel optimistic as they head to face Tacoma, however, with the side having posted an 8-2-1 record all-time in the series between the clubs that included a 1-0 win on home turf when the sides met a season ago. With a six-point gap to make up to the playoff places in the Mountain Division, Real needs to start making a move soon to get out of bottom spot in the standings.
