OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC will try to build on its first win of the 2021 season on Wednesday night as it returns home to Taft Stadium to host Sporting Kansas City II, which is looking to break a two-game winless streak. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.

@EnergyFC (1-4-4, 7pts) earned its first win in 337 days on Saturday night as goalkeeper CJ Cochran recorded a seven-save shutout to allow Villyan Bijev’s first-half goal to stand as the winner in a 1-0 victory against Memphis 901 FC at AutoZone Park. The victory was interim Head Coach Leigh Viedman’s first at the helm and pulled the side off the bottom of the Central Division ahead of Sporting. Energy FC will now look for the club’s first victory at home since a 4-2 victory against Austin Bold FC on August 24, 2019 after the side was held without a home win in 2020.

@SportingKCII (1-5-4, 7pts) suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat on Sunday evening against Indy Eleven, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying as the hosts recorded nine shots on goal only to be stymied by Indy goalkeeper Bobby Edwards. The game did see Enoch Mushagalusa record his third goal of the season, and the Congolese winger has proven a notable attacking threat throughout the campaign with a league-high 28 shots overall and 13 shots on target, and a league-high 24 completed dribbles this season. SKC II earned a 1-1 draw when the sides last squared off at Children’s Mercy Park on May 7 as Tyler Freeman scored an equalizer with six minutes to go, and the side will be hoping to rebound as it heads to Oklahoma City, where it has gone 2-2-0 in its history.
