KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Sporting Kansas City II plays host to Indy Eleven on Sunday evening at Children’s Mercy Park with both teams looking to rebound from midweek defeats as they meet for the season time this season. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.

@SportingKCII (1-4-4, 7pts) had a recent three-game undefeated streak come to an end on Wednesday night as it fell 4-3 to FC Tulsa at ONEOK Field, but the late-game performance of Tyler Freeman provided some positive energy as the side returns for its first home game since June 2. Freeman scored twice in the closing stages of the game – including a spectacular free kick in second-half stoppage time – to move individually to three goals this season. Sporting struggled in its prior meeting with Indy at Michael A. Carroll Stadium on May 22 as it was stifled in attack in a 2-0 defeat, but the side has produced positive results in its recent history against the Boys in Blue, winning two of four meetings in 2020.

@IndyEleven (3-4-1, 10pts) also suffered a midweek defeat, falling 1-0 to Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Tuesday night at Michael A. Carroll Stadium in what proved to be Head Coach Martin Rennie’s final game in charge of the side. Indy has now suffered three consecutive defeats to slide out of the playoff positions in the Central Division with its main troubles coming in the attacking third where the side has recorded only a 1.78xG mark cumulatively over its past three games. Max Rogers will be the interim Head Coach as the club searches for a permanent replacement for Rennie, and the side will be hoping its prior away success this season can serve as inspiration for future success as the side has won two of three on the road so far this season.
