Birmingham returns home after midweek defeat to host Bold FC side in positive form

Birmingham Legion FC's Neco Brett and Austin Bold FC's Stefano Pinho are set to lead their respective attacks into action on Saturday night as Birmingham and Austin meet for the first time.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham Legion FC returns to BBVA Field on Saturday night looking to rebound as it plays host to an Austin Bold FC side that is coming off a dramatic midweek victory as the clubs meet for the first time in their histories. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.

@BHMLegion (5-3-1, 16pts) had its four-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night as it fell 2-0 to Louisville City FC at Lynn Family Stadium in a frustrating night for the club’s attack. Legion FC hit the post through JJ Williams and had other chances to remain in the game but was unable to convert against its Central Division rival. Legion FC has won its last three home outings since falling in its season-opener on May 1 and will look to continue that run after putting up multiple goals in back-to-back contests in its prior two victories. Forward Neco Brett is tied for the league-lead with six goals this season, while Matt VanOekel has recorded 30 saves and a 78.9 save percentage to help the side average less than one goal per game conceded so far this campaign.

@AustinBoldFC (3-2-2, 11pts) arrives in Birmingham having grabbed victory late in its midweek visit to Rio Grande Valley FC as Fabien Garcia scored in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time with a beautiful free kick from 30 yards out to provide the game-winner for the visitors at H-E-B Park. Austin is now on a three-game undefeated streak as it completes a four-game road trip on Saturday night, with the goal it conceded to the Toros the first it had allowed in three games as well. Now up to fourth place in the Mountain Division, Bold FC will be hoping it’s defensive solidity will remain in place as it looks to contain Birmingham strong attacking pieces.
