New Mexico returns home to host Austin with both sides coming off victories last time out

New Mexico United's Sergio Rivas and Austin Bold FC's Nick Hinds could play key roles as their teams face off for the second time this season at Isotopes Park on Saturday night.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico United plays host to Austin Bold FC on Saturday night at Isotopes Park with both teams looking to build on victories last time out as they vie for position in the Mountain Division. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET.

@NewMexicoUTD (3-2-1, 10pts) claimed its third win in the past four games last Friday night as a late goal by Isidro Martinez earned a 1-0 win on the road against Real Monarchs SLC. The goal was Martinez’s first for his new club and made him the sixth different player to have found the net this season for United. New Mexico was buoyed this week by the announcements that both defender Kalen Ryden and forward Amando Moreno had signed new contracts that will keep them at the club through at least the 2023 season. Moreno is currently tied for the club lead with two goals and sits second to Martinez with five key passes this season, while Ryden has been an integral figure on the club’s back line since joining prior to the 2020 season.

@AustinBoldFC (2-2-1, 7pts) also took a 1-0 victory in its most recent outing as Collin Fernandez scored the fastest goal in the club’s history after 53 seconds to defeat Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at Highmark Stadium. Austin has won two of its last three games, but its new attacking pieces haven’t quite caught fire so far, with Stefano Pinho and Jason Johnson yet to find the net and the side having scored only five goals in five games and recording only 13 shots on goal. The visitors will be looking for a better result than their first visit to Isotopes Park this season on Saturday, however, after New Mexico took victory in its home opener on May 8 as Moreno was joined by Sergio Rivas and Brian Brown on the scoresheet in a 3-1 victory for the hosts as Nick Hinds had the lone goal for the visitors.
