Toros return home after big comeback victory to host Monarchs side coming off midweek win

Rio Grande Valley FC's Elvis Amoh and Real Monarchs SLC's Maikel Chang each helped lead their sides to victory in their most recent outings ahead of Saturday clash at H-E-B Park.

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley FC will try to maintain a perfect record at H-E-B Park on Saturday night as it returns home to play host to a Real Monarchs SLC side that is coming off its first victory of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

@RGVFC (4-1-1, 13pts) has claimed three wins from three so far at H-E-B Park this season and has conceded only once, which has been a key reason to its current place atop the Mountain Division. The side returns home on Saturday after wrapping up a three-game road trip with a 4-2 victory against Miami FC last Sunday night that saw the Toros rally from a two-goal halftime deficit to take all three points behind a hat trick from forward Elvis Amoh. Making his return to the lineup after a suspension, Amoh hit the woodwork late in the first half before reeling off the second three-goal game in RGVFC history to send the side to its first road win of the season. The Toros have fared well at home previously in their history against the Monarchs, going 2-1-1 in their prior four meetings.

@RealMonarchs (1-3-2, 5pts) took its first win of the season on Wednesday night as Milan Iloski scored his first two goals in the professional ranks to lead a 2-0 win against Sacramento Republic FC at Zions Bank Stadium. The game was marked by the return to the side on loan of 2019 Championship Final winner Maikel Chang, who recorded the assist on Iloski’s second goal of the game. That marked Chang’s 38th regular-season assist of his career in the Championship, which had seen him compete for the Charleston Battery before joining the Monarchs and eventually sign a Major League Soccer contract with Real Salt Lake. The Cuban playmaker is now one behind Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC’s Kenardo Forbes for the most assists in the Championship’s history, a tally he could look to add to in Texas should he remain with the squad.
