Hounds return home after midweek victory to face Austin in interconference matchup

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC's Alex Dixon has recorded one goal and two assists in the side's past two outings as Austin Bold FC and Gustavo Rissi visit on Sunday night at Highmark Stadium.

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC will try to run its winning streak to three games on Sunday evening as it plays host to Austin Bold FC at Highmark Stadium in an interconference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.

@RiverhoundsSC (2-2-1, 7pts) claimed a second consecutive victory on Wednesday night but was made  to work for a 3-2 win on the road against Loudoun United FC at Segra Field. The Hounds took a two-goal lead on goals by Anthony Velarde and an own goal but needed a second-half penalty kick by Russell Cicerone to add an insurance goal before withstanding late pressure by Loudoun to earn all three points. Cicerone’s goal was his team-leading third of the season, while Alex Dixon has recorded a goal and two assists over the club’s past two games. Pittsburgh will be looking for its first home win this season on Sunday after suffering a 1-0 loss to the Charlotte Independence in its home opener, but the side has typically been strong at home since the arrival of Head Coach Bob Lilley, with a record of 24-5-15 since the start of the 2018 season at Highmark Stadium.

@AustinBoldFC (1-2-1, 4pts) also saw action in midweek and will be looking for a positive turnaround after falling 1-0 to El Paso Locomotive FC on Thursday night at Bold Stadium. The hosts were limited in attack by Locomotive FC, recording only six shots and one shot on goal while being held to an Expected Goals mark of 0.18, one of the lowest in a single game in the Championship this season. Austin put in a solid defensive display itself in a tightly-fought game, and will be hoping to carry that solidity into its third road game of the season while continuing to build its attack from wide positions. Austin has recorded 81 crosses from open play and set pieces this season, an average of more than 20 per game, while posting a 29.6 success rate, good for sixth-best in the league.
