PHOENIX – Phoenix Rising FC will try to make it three wins in a row and four consecutive home victories to start the season as it plays host to a San Diego Loyal SC side that earned its first win of the season in its last outing. Kickoff at Wild Horse Pass is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET.

@PHXRisingFC (4-1-0, 12pts) took its first road win of the season last Saturday night as Santi Moar’s goal proved the difference in a 1-0 victory against Sacramento Republic FC at Heart Health Park. Moar has now scored in six consecutive regular-season games dating back to the final game of the 2020 regular season, putting him two back of the Championship’s record for consecutive games with a goal, held by current Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC forward Hadji Barry. Moar was the key performer in Phoenix’s first meeting with San Diego on April 30 as he recorded a goal and two assists to lead the side to a 4-1 victory in its first official game at Wild Horse Pass. The hosts are set to be without midfielder Kevon Lambert on Saturday night, however, after his selection to Jamaica’s squad for international duty this week.

@SanDiegoLoyal (1-4-0, 3pts) heads for the rematch after claiming its first points of the season last Saturday night in a 2-1 victory against Las Vegas Lights FC as Corey Hertzog scored a late winner in the club’s home opener at Torero Stadium. San Diego has allowed 32 shots on goal this season, which currently sits as the third-highest total in the Championship at an average of 6.4 shots on target per game, a number it will want to try and bring down against a potent Phoenix attack. SD Loyal did show improvement against Las Vegas, though, as former U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Miguel Ibarra made his debut for the club, and that influence could make for an intriguing midfield battle between the two sides this time around.
