405 Derby rivals square off for first time in 2021 after deciding playoff race last season

Orange County SC's Thomas Enevoldsen and the LA Galaxy II's Axel Picazo will both be looking to find the net as their sides meet for the first time this season on Saturday night.

IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC and the LA Galaxy II meet in the 405 Derby for the first time this season with the hosts looking to build off a victory last time out at Championship Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET.

@OrangeCountySC (1-1-0, 3pts) took a 1-0 victory against Sacramento Republic FC last Saturday night as Orange, Calif. native Chris Wehan scored the only goal in his home debut for the club. Wehan’s return highlighted a number of changes to Orange County’s squad from a season ago, with the club also handing home debuts to fellow newcomers Patrick Rakovsky, Mikko Kuningas, Ronaldo Damus, Eero Markkanen, Brent Richards and Rhys Breen, one of two players that has joined the club on loan from Scottish partner Rangers FC for this season. OCSC went 4-1-3 last season on home turf, but that lone defeat proved a crucial one as it came against the Galaxy II and provided a turning point in last season’s series. Los Dos went on to win the final encounter of four between the sides last season which propelled them into the playoffs and left Orange County on the outside looking in.

The @LAGalaxyII (2-2-2, 8pts) will be looking to rebound from their first loss since the opening game of the season as they make the trip up the interstate after a 3-2 defeat against Oakland Roots SC last Sunday night that saw the side let a lead slip twice before conceding a stoppage-time winner. Los Dos have provided plenty of entertainment going forward so far this season, with attacking midfielder Jorge Hernandez tied for second in the league with 11 chances created as well as a team-leading three goals. The Galaxy II hold the all-time lead in the series as it reached its 25th playing, with a 12-8-4 record overall against its crosstown rival.
