Energy FC returns home after midweek defeat to host emerging Memphis side

OKC Energy FC defender Sam Rogers will look to help contain Memphis 901 FC forward Michael Salazar when the sides meet on Saturday night at Taft Stadium.

OKLAHOMA CITY – OKC Energy FC and Memphis 901 FC meet for the first time on Saturday night at Taft Stadium with the hosts looking to rebound from a midweek defeat and 901 FC looking to build on a point in its most recent outing. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.

@EnergyFC (0-3-2, 2pts) was handed its third loss of the season on Wednesday night as it fell 1-0 to Birmingham Legion FC at BBVA Field in a performance that saw little attacking threat from the visitors. OKC recorded only two shots on target and seven shots overall despite holding the edge in possession for the contest. The game did see the season debut of forward Jaime Chavez as a second-half substitute after the veteran had been worked his way back from injury, and Energy FC will be hoping he and Frank Lopez can connect on Saturday to help end the club’s five-game winless streak to start the new campaign.

@Memphis901FC (0-1-1, 1pt) picked up its first point of the season last Sunday night in a 2-2 draw with Atlanta United 2 but would have come away from the contest disappointed after conceding a late equalizer to its hosts at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. There were plenty of positives to take from the game overall, however, with Kadeem Dacres recording a goal and assist to earn a place in the Championship’s Team of the Week, while Laurent Kissiedou also recorded his first goal of the season. Memphis will be hoping to build on that performance and claim its first win of the season, which would in the process move the side out of the basement in the Central Division.
