Legion FC returns home looking to rebound while Energy FC seeks first win of season

Birmingham Legion FC's Ben Ofeimu and OKC Energy FC's Aidan Daniels are set to lead their sides into action in the first meeting between their clubs on Wednesday night.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham Legion FC and OKC Energy FC will meet for the first time on Wednesday night at BBVA Field as the hosts try to rebound from a loss in their last outing this past weekend and Energy FC looks to break through for its first win of the 2021 campaign. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

@BHMLegion (1-2-1, 4pts) saw its momentum take a hit on Saturday night as it suffered a 2-1 defeat on the road against San Antonio FC. Neco Brett scored his third goal of the season late on for the visitors at Toyota Field but Legion FC was unable to come away with a positive result despite hitting the woodwork twice and holding an overall edge in both possession and shots. Birmingham will also be aiming for its first win at BBVA Field this Wednesday after falling in its home opener to Indy Eleven on May 1. The side took victory at Legion Field against Memphis 901 FC on May 15 while the BBVA Field playing surface was given time to recuperate after work to improve its quality was undertaken in the past three weeks.

@EnergyFC (0-2-2, 2pts) heads to Birmingham for its second away game of the season after recording draws in each of its past two outings. Both contests, however, saw Energy FC hold a late lead before allowing an equalizer against Sporting Kansas City II and Atlanta United 2 that have kept Head Coach John Pascarella’s squad winless so far this campaign. OKC has struggled on the road since the start of the 2019 Championship season, going 5-13-8 away from Taft Stadium, a win percentage below .200, which is going to need to improve if the side is going to start moving up the Central Division standings.
