Hounds look for first win all-time against Charlotte in home opener at Highmark Stadium

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC's Jordan Dover and the Charlotte Independence's Marcelo Palomino will lead their sides into action on Saturday night at Highmark Stadium.

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC hosts its home opener at Highmark Stadium on Saturday night as it plays host to the Charlotte Independence, a side the Hounds have yet to take victory against in league action. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

@RiverhoundsSC (0-1-1, 1pt) returns home after narrowly missing out on its first win of the season last Saturday night against Hartford Athletic, when a goal late in the game saw the Athletic earn a 1-1 draw at Dillon Stadium. The Hounds will be without midfield playmaker Kenardo Forbes for the contest after he was sent off against Hartford, but could see former D.C. United defender Jalen Robinson make his debut after his arrival this week. Pittsburgh is 1-1-1 in its last three home openers, and will be hoping to find another win to get moving up the Atlantic Division.

The @Independence (1-1-0, 3pts) earned their first three points of the season last Friday night in a 3-0 victory against the Charleston Battery, a result that marked their first win against their regional rival since 2016. Charlotte, however, has gone 6-0-5 all-time against Pittsburgh since the teams first met in 2015, the Independence’s inaugural season. The last time the sides met in 2019, the Independence shut out the Hounds in both contests, including a 0-0 draw in their most recent trip to Highmark Stadium.
