EDINBURG, Texas – South Texas Derby rivals Rio Grande Valley FC and San Antonio FC square off for the first time this season at H-E-B Park with both sides undefeated after their first two games of the 2021 USL Championship season. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.

@RGVFC (2-0-0, 6pts) has made an ideal start with back-to-back victories for the first time to start a regular season in club history. The Toros took a 1-0 victory against San Diego Loyal SC on May 6 in its most recent outing as Vicente Sanchez scored a late winner while becoming the oldest goalscorer in the Championship’s history at 41 years of age. The two wins have put the Toros on top of the Mountain Division ahead of their first meeting this season with San Antonio, where it will be looking to even the all-time regular season series between the clubs at six wins apiece on its home turf.

@SanAntonioFC (1-0-1, 4pts) is also undefeated as it arrives at H-E-B Park, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw last Saturday night against Real Monarchs SLC as a first-half red card to Nathan Fogaca helped the visitors to rally from a two-goal halftime deficit. San Antonio has claimed victory three times in its prior visits to face RGVFC, and in 2020 went 3-0-1 in the four meetings between the clubs. More of the same will be the aim for Head Coach Alen Marcina’s side as it looks to move back into first place in the division standings.
