Defiance take aim at second consecutive win as Orange County kicks off new season

Tacoma Defiance's Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez and Orange County SC's Kevin Alston could square off on Sunday afternoon as their sides meet at Cheney Stadium.

TACOMA, Wash. – Tacoma Defiance will look to take a second consecutive victory as it plays host to an Orange County SC side kicking off its 2021 USL Championship season on Sunday afternoon at Cheney Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

@TacDefiance (1-0-1, 4pts) continued its undefeated start to the new season on Thursday night as it took a 3-1 victory against San Diego Loyal SC. Carlos Anguiano, Alec Diaz and Danny Robles each found the net for the Defiance as it won its home opener for the second time in the past three seasons. Tacoma has struggled overall against Orange County in its history, however, winning only twice in 10 prior meetings, but one of those wins came in then last meeting between the clubs in 2019 as Shandon Hopeau and Marlon Vargas found the net in a 2-1 victory.

@OrangeCountySC (0-0-0, 0pts) kicks off its new season in Tacoma with a renewed attacking group that includes the return of Thomas Enevoldsen after his absence during the resumption of the 2020 Championship season and the arrival of 2019 Championship All-League selection Adam Jahn, 2019 USL League One Golden Boot winner Ronaldo Damus and Finnish international Eero Markkanen. OCSC has also brought aboard former New Mexico United midfielder Chris Wehan and goalkeeper Abraham Romero, both of whom could make a notable impact as the side looks to return to the Championship Playoffs this fall.
