SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC will welcome Las Vegas Lights FC for its home opener at the newly-named Heart Health Park on Wednesday night, with the hosts looking to build on an opening night victory and Las Vegas looking to bounce back. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET.

@SacRepublicFC (1-0-0, 3pts) came away with all three points on the opening weekend of the regular season, but had to battle in a 1-0 win against the LA Galaxy II at Dignity Health Sports Park. Second-half substitutes Dariusz Formella and Tucker Bone proved key, with Bone recording the lone goal with eight minutes to go. Sacramento is looking for its first home-opener victory since 2018 on Wednesday night, having drawn against Real Monarchs SLC (2019) and FC Tulsa (2020) in its home debuts since then. The side is 4-1-2 all-time in home openers, with the sole loss coming in its inaugural season in 2014.

@LVLightsFC (0-1-0, 0pts) put in a creditable first-half display in its season-opener against the LA Galaxy II last Wednesday night, but then struggled in the second half, conceding five goals as Los Dos ran away with victory. New Head Coach Steve Cherundolo will look to fix some of the defensive issues that arose that night as Lights FC looks to earn its first road victory in Sacramento in the club’s short history. Las Vegas’ last visit to face Republic FC in 2019 saw the side come away with a 0-0 draw, a result that allowed Lights FC to win the regular-season series between the clubs that year after previously earning a 4-2 win at Cashman Field.
