Playmaker records goal, assist to lead 2-0 victory in home opener at ONEOK Field

TULSA, Okla. – FC Tulsa got a goal and assist by Rodrigo Da Costa as the hosts cruised to a 2-0 victory against Sporting Kansas City II on Saturday night at ONEOK Field, marking Tulsa’s first win in club history against SKC II in their 10th meeting.

The hosts opened on the front foot and carved out their first chance in the 13th minute as Jorge Corrales drove in a low cross from the left that Rodrigo Da Costa was unable to put on target at the near post. A minute later, though, the same combination proved in-sync. Corrales latched onto a ball over the top by Kevin Garcia just outside the penalty area and delivered a cross that Da Costa cushioned home into the right corner of the net from 10 yards for Tulsa’s first.

Corrales and Da Costa combined again in the 25th minute as Tulsa doubled its lead with Da Costa receiving a throw-in from the Cuban before making a clever pass that found Dario Suarez cutting through the left side of the penalty area. Suarez controlled and fired low into the right corner to put the hosts in control.

Sporting almost halved their halftime deficit in the just past the hour-mark as Grayson Barber curled a low shot from 20 yards that caromed off the left post and away to safety. A few minutes later, Enoch Mugalusha also forced a save by Tulsa goalkeeper Sean Lewis, but in the end Tulsa comfortable saw out the victory to claim its second win to start the season.
