Second-year pro made three starts in MLS for New York Red Bulls in 2020 season


New Indy Eleven acquisition Patrick Seagrist made three starts for the New York Red Bulls before being traded to Inter Miami CF this past offseason.

INDIANAPOLIS – Indy Eleven announced on Thursday it had acquired midfielder Patrick Seagrist on loan from Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami CF for the 2021 USL Championship season.

“I am beyond excited to be back in the Midwest with familiar faces and a great club in Indy Eleven,” said Seagrist. “I look forward to being with the team and working to bring a championship back to Indy and our fans.”

Seagrist, a native of Streamwood, Ill., located in northwest Chicagoland, the Boys in Blue after being acquired this offseason by Inter Miami in a trade with the New York Red Bulls. The 23-year-old started three games in 2020 as a rookie with the Red Bulls, who had selected him with the No. 10 pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft.

“Patrick is an excellent athlete who can attack and defend with great power on the left side of the field,” said Indy Eleven Head Coach Martin Rennie. “We thank Inter Miami for entrusting us with his development this season and look forward to his contributions throughout 2021.”

Prior to turning pro, Seagrist was a four-year letter winner for Marquette University, where he finished his Golden Eagle career with a team-best seven assists during his senior campaign in 2019. Seagrist started 63 of the 65 matches he played collegiately and recorded six goals and 16 assists from the backline. His all-around play earned Seagrist All-BIG EAST First Team honors in both 2018 and 2019.
