WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – A pair of goals by Cameron Lancaster led Louisville City FC to a 4-2 victory on Sunday afternoon against reigning USL League One title-holder Greenville Triumph SC as the Championship side’s attack clicked into gear impressively at the University of the Cumberlands.

Brian Ownby and George Davis IV also found the net for LouCity, which had to rally twice in the first half after Greenville took the lead twice through Marios Lomis

“We want to thank the University of the Cumberlands for hosting us and the Greenville Triumph this afternoon,” said LouCity Head Coach John Hackworth. “It was a tough game against a good opponent. I was really pleased with our second half performance. We did a better job of controlling the ball and created some good scoring opportunities."

A back-and-forth first half saw Lomis put Greenville ahead twice, but Lancaster answered the opening goal as he cleaned up a rebound chance. After Triumph SC struck again through the Dutch forward, Ownby equalized minutes before the halftime break.

Louisville took more control of the game in the second half, and Lancaster put his side ahead for good with his second goal of the contest. Davis then notched the fourth, laid on for him by recent LouCity arrival Jorge Gonzalez, on loan from Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers.

After a series of games against MLS foes, LouCity has now defeated lower division clubs in consecutive weekends, with Chattanooga FC the club’s other recent opponent. Louisville will now look ahead to its final game of the preseason, scheduled for next Saturday night against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at Lynn Family Stadium.

“As we look forward to next Saturday, we are excited about playing in front of our fans in Lynn Family Stadium,” said Hackworth.
