EDINBURG, Texas (Friday, Dec. 18, 2020) – Rio Grande Valley FC volunteered at Habitat for Humanity in Harlingen, Texas for Day 9 of the 12 Days of Toros campaign as the club serves the Rio Grande Valley community for 12 days during the holiday season.
The club assisted Habitat clean up their warehouse and showroom, and separate and organize all of their donations. “RGV FC represents the community on and off the pitch,” said Colby Fayyad, Toros Corporate Executive. “It was a no-brainer for us to lend a helping hand this holiday season to the folks at Habitat for Humanity and continue their efforts to help families find a place to call home.”
Habitat for Humanity serves the Rio Grande Valley and has been dedicated to the ideal that all people deserve to own a home that is both comfortable and affordable. They work everyday to change lives by enabling people who live in substandard housing to become responsible homeowners.
In addition, Habitat is responsible for the construction of more than 100 houses throughout the Valley and offers a “hand up” and not a “hand out” to low-income families from the four county region. Family partners must be hardworking, low-income residents that may not be able to qualify for a traditional mortgage.
