Charleston Battery midfielder Nico Rittmeyer has been named in the the Guatemala National Team’s squad that will convene for a week of training to begin the buildup to an international exhibition against Honduras on November 15. The game is set to be hosted at Estadio Nacional Mateo Flores in Guatemala City.

The call-up is Rittmeyer’s first at the senior level after missing out due to injury earlier this year. A native of Savannah, Georgia, Rittmeyer qualifies to compete for Los Chapines through his mother, who is a native of the country. This season he recorded seven appearances for the Battery and scored once as he reached 85 appearances overall in the Championship.
A former standout at the College of Charleston, the 27-year-old Rittmeyer has spent his first four seasons in the professional ranks with the Battery.
Also named in the squad is Rodrigo Saravia, currently of Comunicaciones, who played for Sporting Kansas City II in the 2018 Championship season.
