Former Loudoun United FC forward Alioune Ndour is heading to Portugal’s top flight, with Primeira Liga side Belenenses announcing the 19-year-old’s signing on Wednesday to a five-year contract. Ndour will be added to Belenenses’ squad in January after joining the club outside the official transfer window from MFK Vyskov, from which Loudoun had acquired Ndour on loan previously.

“We are very happy and excited for Alioune to make this move to Europe and incredibly humbled to have played a part in his growth on and off the field,” said Loudoun Head Coach Ryan Martin. “For a young player to make such an impressive impact in such a short time at the USL level is hard to do and a testament to his ability and desire to play at a higher level.

“We want to thank Alioune for his time with us, his dedication and of course his goals! We wish him the best of luck and glad he could use Loudoun as a steppingstone to the next part of his journey to be a top professional.”

A native of Senegal, Ndour recorded five goals and one assist in 15 appearances for United after joining late in the 2019 USL Championship season.
