LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The final meeting in the Kings’ Cup rivalry between Louisville City FC and Saint Louis FC will be for a place in the Eastern Conference Final as the squads meet for the fifth time this season and the first time in the playoffs in the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the 2020 USL Championship Playoffs at Lynn Family Stadium on Saturday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
@LouCityFC began its quest to become the first team to claim victory in the USL Championship Final for a third time with a 2-0 victory against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC last Saturday night as Cameron Lancaster scored his third postseason goal all-time before Corben Bone wrapped up the win late. Oscar Jimenez notched the assist on Lancaster’s goal, giving him five postseason helpers, one off the all-time lead held by the Hounds’ Kenardo Forbes. Louisville is now on a seven-game undefeated streak overall, a run that includes a pair of regular-season wins against Saint Louis during which goalkeeper Ben Lundt recorded a pair of shutouts.
Since suffering the second of those two defeats to LouCity, however, @SaintLouisFC has come through with victories in back-to-back games that first earned its place in the postseason and then last Saturday saw the club record its first playoff win in its history. Joaquin Rivas produced a stoppage-time winner for STLFC as it edged out Hartford Athletic 1-0 at Dillon Stadium last Saturday night to earn another meeting with its longstanding rival. Saint Louis will be looking to emulate the 1-0 victory it earned in its first visit to Lynn Family Stadium on July 18 when Tyler Blackwood scored the only goal of the game as it tries to extend its final season one week further.
37 – Louisville City FC has recorded 37 more shots on target (83) than it has faced (46) during the 2020 Championship season.
18 – Saint Louis’ Phanuel Kavita has recorded 18 blocked shots in the 2020 season, second-most in the Championship.
