SD Loyal host in what is a do-or-die match for both teams

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (September 13, 2020) - OC are back in action for the third time in seven days as the club head down to San Diego. The match is also a return to Group B action.

The two sides are third and fourth in Group B. OC have 18 points from 11 matches, while Loyal SC has 16 from 12. A win could see either side move up into the playoff spot depending on results elsewhere.

OC scored early against Sacramento, but couldn’t hold the lead and succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Sacramento. It was just the third loss of 2020. San Diego last played LA Galaxy II, scoring early on and ultimately winning 3-0.

With everything still to play for, it should be a highly competitive and well-fought matchup.

Orange County have not shied away from being physical against their opposition, averaging just over 15 fouls per match. It is not fouling for physicality’s sake, as OC boast the fewest goals against in Group B. Frederik Due and Aaron Cervantes have shared the starting role in goal this season, combining for 28 saves from 38 shots.

At the front, Ugo Okoli added his name to yet another scoresheet at the midweek with a last-ditch effort against Sacramento. The striker is OC’s leading goalscorer with six goals from 11 matches, while Aodhan Quinn and Cammy Palmer have three from 11 and two from nine, respectively.

Harry Forrester is unavailable for selection.

The match kicks off at 7 p.m. Pacific at Torero Stadium in San Diego. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ elsewhere in the United States. The game is also available internationally on the USL Championship YouTube channel.
