32-year-old is reunited with Yallop at Lights FC, bringing more than 200 appearances of experience

Las Vegas Lights FC has signed longtime MLS forward Quincy Amarikwa, who most recently competed for D.C. United and has made more than 200 appearances overall in the top flight.

LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Lights FC announced on Tuesday the signing of veteran forward Quincy Amarikwa for the remainder of the 2020 Championship season. A veteran of 11 seasons in Major League Soccer, Amarikwa is reunited with current Lights FC Head Coach Frank Yallop at Cashman Field.

Yallop and the San Jose Earthquakes originally selected Amarikwa in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, and the two linked up again at the Chicago Fire in 2013. With more than 200 appearances of experience as well as 26 goals and 20 assists in the top flight, Yallop was pleased to bring another attacking option aboard as Lights FC aims to continue its playoff push on Wednesday night against San Diego Loyal SC.

“Quincy is an established MLS player – but he’s an even better person,” said Yallop.  “I am excited to have him join us for the remainder of the season to provide not just depth to our roster, but there are very few players better to learn from as Quincy has experienced so much in his career to date.”

Originally from Bakersfield, California and 2019 UC Davis Hall Of Famer, Amarikwa also previously played for Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids, New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC, Montreal Impact and most recently D.C. United, where he appeared in more than 20 matches and served as back up to Wayne Rooney.  The 32-year-old won MLS Cup in 2010 as part of the Colorado Rapids organization.

In addition to the arrival of Amarikwa, Lights FC also announced that defender Gabe Robinson had been loaned for the remainder of the 2020 USL Championship regular season to fellow Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
