IRVINE, Calif. – Orange County SC announced on Friday it had acquired forward Chandler Hoffman on loan from fellow USL Championship club Birmingham Legion FC for the remainder of the 2020 season. Hoffman is the third-leading scorer in the USL Championship’s history, having recorded 63 regular-season goals during his career.

“We are thrilled to add Chandler, a first-class professional to our talented roster,” said OCSC President of Soccer Operations, Oliver Wyss. “Chandler is one of the best natural goalscorers this league has seen, and we expect him to have a significant impact on our team.”

“I am excited and thankful for the opportunity to get back on the field,” added Hoffman. “I cannot wait to join the group and get to work.”

Hoffman was the first signing in Legion FC history, returning to his native Alabama after a career that has also seen him star in the Championship for the LA Galaxy II, Louisville City FC, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Real Monarchs SLC. Last season, he recorded four goals in 17 games before suffering a ruptured knee ligament that brought his career to a premature end.

“This is a mutually beneficial, short term roster move for both Chandler and Legion FC,” said Legion FC President and General Manager Jay Heaps. “Chandler will have the opportunity to play much needed games as he returns to full fitness, and it provides some roster flexibility for the club as we look to return to play.”

In addition to his time with the LA Galaxy and Los Dos, Hoffman also competed for UCLA’s Men’s Soccer program, where he scored 29 goals in 54 games and was a Semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy in 2011. In the same year, he was named to the USL League Two All-League Team and was a finalist for the league’s Most Valuable Player award. In the professional ranks, he was a member of the LA Galaxy side that won the 2014 MLS Cup, and he captained the Monarchs side that claimed the 2017 Championship Regular Season title.
