Luiz Silva Promoted to Assistant Coach

Hartford Athletic announced today that Luiz Silva has been named Assistant Coach. Silva, who previously held the role of Director of Scouting and Performance Analysis will serve both roles. Former Assistant Coach John Curtis has left the Club to focus on his work with NCE Soccer.

Prior to joining Hartford in 2019, Silva was the Head Coach of Volta Redonda FC U20 (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) in 2015 before joining América Mineiro on Brasileirão Série A (Brazilian Top Division) as Performance Analysis and Scouting in 2016. In 2018, Silva was named U20 and U23 Assistant Coach, guiding the club to 1st overall position in the group stage of U23 National Championship before being invited to lead the Department of Scouting and Performance Analysis for the 2019 season. He joined Hartford Athletic as Director of Scouting and Performance Analysis in September of 2019 aiming to build the structure and processes for 2020 season. He has been instrumental in leading opposition and scouting analysis as well as tracking the performance of our own players.

Silva holds CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation)/FIFA B and A Licenses, Performance Analysis PRO License from CBF/FIFA, Director of Coaching Diploma from United Soccer Coaches and Level 3 License from CBFS (Brazilian Confederation of Futsal). He has coached players who are now playing in the top level in Brazil and Europe, including Aston Villa striker Wesley Moraes.

Along with John Curtis, Goalkeeper Coach George Kostelis and Strength & Conditioning Coach Lucas Kruel have also officially departed as staff.

Eric Weingarten will replace Kostelis as Goalkeeper Coach joining Head Coach Radhi Jaïdi, Assistant Coach Luiz Silva, Athletic Trainer Kevin Hoffman, Team Administrator Joe Santos, and Technical Advisor Paul Buckle.
