Special-edition shirts have been regular occurrences in the USL Championship in recent years, including some sensational bespoke options created in celebration of the Pride Nights across the country.

The past two seasons, in particular, have seen Championship clubs raise money for local LGBTQ+ charities through sales or auctions of the jerseys. In the process, they have come through with some unique, eye-catching designs that are now collector’s items for those that own them.

We’ve picked out five of our favorite designs and asked our resident ranker – Nicholas Murray – to put them in order. No. 5 – Phoenix Rising FC Warm-Up Jerseys (2019)

It’s an adaptation of Rising FC’s regular warm-ups, but as those kids in the social media department tweet, it’s all in the details. The addition of a rainbow-toned club crest pops on the front of the black jersey, and the bold numbers on the back are a perfect accompaniment.    

No. 4 – Tampa Bay Rowdies Warm-Up Jerseys (2019)

Since 1975, the Rowdies have had one of the most recognizable logos in North America. Lighting up that iconic text with rainbow colors turns up the heat even more.

No. 3 – Saint Louis FC Warm-Up Jerseys (2018)

Saint Louis’ warm-up jerseys from two seasons ago are similar to those worn by Phoenix, but they go one step further and apply the rainbow colors to club partner Mission Taco. The club also produced white versions of the jersey that were available for sale in the club’s shop, with all of the proceeds being donated to Playing for Pride.

No. 2 – Louisville City FC Warm-Up Jerseys (2019)

Look, I’m a sucker for a sash. I think it should be a permanent part of the U.S. National Team’s primary uniforms. So, how could I not love these warm-up jerseys from Louisville City FC, which take the rainbow colors and stripe them elegantly across the front of the jersey. Add in the white crest laying on top of the high end and this just looks superb. 

No. 1 – Austin Bold FC Game Jerseys (2019)

There’s a really great case for creating something unique for a special-edition jersey, but I’ve got to be honest, I love how Bold FC took its white jersey from its inaugural season and tweaked it with rainbow trim to celebrate its first Pride Night. The details around the sleeve cuffs and rainbow names and numbers on the back of the jersey incorporate beautifully, marrying the club’s identity with one of equality.
